gir,

Hongkong General Chamber of Commerce,

Hongkong, 16th.July, 1910.

I am directed to acknowledge your letter of 15th, ultimo, (No. 2692/08) enclosing a despatch from Lord

Crewe of the 27th. April last and a minute of the Registrar of

Trade Marks of the 2nd. ultimo, and inviting this Chamber's

views regarding further legislation on the lines suggested by

the Secretary of State for the Colonies.

The Committee of this Chamber have read

with interest the points raised by the Manchester and Liverpool

Chambers of Commerce on the passing of a Trade Marks Ordinance

in Southern Nigeria last year, but they conaur in the views

held by Mr. Fletcher and they trust His Excellency the Officer

Administering the Government will represent to the Secretary of

sate for the Colonies that the additional legislation which he

suggests is undesirable, at all events as far as this Colony is

concerned.

C

I am etc.,

(sd.) A. R. Lowe,
